About Paris Carbone

Paris Carbone is a computer scientist and active researcher in data system technologies. He has contributed to numerous mission-critical open-source systems widely in use today such as OmniPaxos and Apache Flink. Paris is also the co-founder of Orb DB, the world's first predictive AI database that is conscious of uncertainties in its answers. Furthermore, Paris has contributed to numerous other novel technologies related to data streaming such as asynchronous dataflow snapshotting, decentralized dataflow computing (Portals), dataflow languages (AquaLang), and embedded queriable dataflow storage (μWheel). Currently, Paris is leading the data systems lab in Stockholm at KTH and RISE and teaches Distributed Systems and Database and Data Management on both undergraduate and graduate levels. In 2024 he was awarded the title of "Teacher of the Year" by the THS student union.
