About Parres Holliday

I recently completed my BSc. degree (Honours in Psychology) at the University of British Columbia-Okanagan (UBCO) and am currently working as a Research Coordinator for the Okanagan Movement Disorders lab (PI, Dr. Daryl Wile) and The Centre for Obesity & Well-Being Research Excellence (PI, Dr. Lesley Lutes). My future academic and career goals are related to implementation science and knowledge translation. Specifically, I hope to pursue research involving the development and delivery of interventions for populations such as those with neurodegenerative disorders, spinal cord injury, and stroke recovery. I am extremely interested in the exploring the links between biological, psychological, and social factors. I am passionate about conducting research alongside patients and hope to address barriers in knowledge translation and health promotion. Further, I am interested in health policy and understanding how to best increase patients access to mental and behavioural health resources. After starting my university career as a varsity athlete, playing for the women's volleyball team, I started my involvement in research. Over the course of my undergraduate degree I received an Undergraduate Research Award (URA) at UBCO and completed my Honours thesis (PI, Dr. Sarah Kraeutner) looking at the association between mental practice and action prediction. This thesis was awarded the CPA Certificate of Academic Excellence. When I'm not on campus or engaged in research I enjoy working out, the lake, my typewriter, spending time with my family, reading a good book, and listening to podcasts!
