About Pascal Michel

Pascal Michel, PhD, has joined Rothmans, Benson & Hedges inc.(RBH) as their new Senior Science Engagement Manager. Serving most of his career at the federal public service, his background focus on the prevention and control of public health risks from a national and global health perspective. Prior to joining RBH, Dr. Michel worked for 24 years at the Public Health Agency of Canada and helped establish this important institution. In 2015, he took on the role of Chief Science Officer of the Public Health Agency of Canada, with key responsibility to provide senior level leadership, oversight, and support in the overall scientific agenda and in leading excellence and innovation in science and science-policy integration activities. Dr. Michel held various cross-appointments with the academia and developed collaborations across Canada and internationally, providing epidemiological expertise to multiple major research initiatives. He is a cofounder of a multi-sectorial research centre focusing on the epidemiology of infectious diseases and developed long lasting relationships with the United Nation Office of Outer Space Affaires for providing a global health expertise to an international engagement on the peaceful uses of space sciences. Dr. Michel has a publication record as author and editor of numerous scientific and technical communications.
