About Pat James

Former Executive Director of the California Community Colleges Online Education Initiative (OEI 7/2014-1/2017) skilled in facilitating collaboration in educational environments. She is currently is a project consultant for the OEI and for Pat James Consulting, an @One Facilitator for the Online Teaching and Design Class and teaches a similar course for Evergreen Valley College in San Jose, works part-time for Instructurel as a consultant. She is a creative experienced online educator in the areas of program planning, course design, implementation, training, budget development, program management, presenter, and is experienced with traditional education k-14 across disciplines. She received a Gates Foundation grant to develop a MOOC for a beginning writing course 2013, received two Gates Foundation Awards in 2014 and 2015, won OLC Leadership Award in Online Education 2016, Pearson Excellence in Academic Leadership Award 2016, Mt. San Jacinto College Staff Member of the Year Award 2014, California Community Colleges, and California Community Colleges Excellence in Technology Leadership Award 2008. At MSJC she was online mentor and distance education coordinator, curriculum committee chair, Academic Senate President, Exec Member-Academic Senate for the California Community Colleges. Pat then became a Dean at MSJC, developed the @MSJC Teaching and Learning Academy, co-directed the California @ONE Professional Development Project, teaches online educators, does in-person and online trainings as requested. She has just taken a new position with the American Public University System, a fully online university, and is working on developing partnerships with community colleges wanting to provide opportunities for their online students when they graduate or transfer.
