About Patrice Carter

Patrice Carter, Pharm D As a Doctor of Pharmacology with more than two decade’s experience working in the retail sector, hospital and veteran’s administration settings, I’ve had the opportunity to witness firsthand multiple approaches to patient care. Now more than ever, I’m convinced that the key to a successful outcome lies in collaboration between physicians, pharmacists, clinical professionals and patients. Communication is vital to patient centered care. By creating a setting where individuals feel comfortable asking questions, and ensuring they understand medical orders and laboratory results, I can encourage patients to be proactive regarding use of and compliance with their medications. My skill set includes: • Patient relations; • Prescription processing; • Medication utilization; • Process improvement; • Medication reconciliation; • Inventory ordering and control; • Staff oversight and training; • Systems management. Pharmacy work isn’t complete when you pass a prescription across the counter. Knowledge of and adherence to hospital policies and prevailing state and federal regulations is necessary. Relationships must also be maintained to ensure customer satisfaction, and to refine and improve the continuity of care. I feel strongly about giving back to my community outside of work. In the past, I’ve served as Vice President of our local Meals on Wheels program, been a Board Member of the hospital’s Free Bed Fund, and served as a Preceptor for the University of New England.
