About Patrice Fraser

I am a New Yorker, and it’s my passion to help and care for people! My mother stated, she knew I was going to work in the medical field because of my caring nature with my dolls, pets, and people. Here is some of my journey: I excelled in science and was fascinated with the human body, and received awards for Outstanding Work in Science, which led to my first opportunity to use my skills, when I volunteered at a hospital as a Candy Striper in my Junior Year of High School. My job was to push a cart around to patient’s rooms delivering magazines, books, and a smile! I interacted with the patient and assisted in any way that was allowed. That summer, I got a job as a Health Aide and from there moved up the ranks Student Nurse, EMT, and so on! It was while I was a Medic that I started to realize my potential for demonstrating precision and proficiency; and I was offered a position in Quality Improvement in Clinical Department of the RAA/AMR Ambulance Company, there- I developed training flip cards - conducted trainings to ensure accuracy and compliance - provided incentives for the Medics based on review of Patient Care Reports. My next career move was as a Nurse Extender in Emergency Room, this job I was excited about, and my career moved to a whole different level of fast-paced excitement, where I absorbed the fundamentals of critical care and worked along-side seasoned doctors and nurses. I loved the adrenal rush, that was my niche…so much so that- my dedication to my patients - my reliability as a worker - my reputation as a team player - my compassion for helping others - resulted in receiving Employee of the Year!(Which I felt, I was just doing my job) A shift in geographics, my parents retired to Florida and my father became ill. This presented me with the opportunity to work at the Department of Health as a Training Specialist II. I was hired because of my previous experiences with QI/QA training, working along with supervisor my responsibilities were to develop a new Health Management System to replace the outdated system, which led too- Preparing and conducting specialized Clinical Management Applications - Updating HCMS, HMS, FMMIS system - Rewriting and preparing Procedure Manuals and Training Guides - Training of Direct Client Services Staff This is just a highlight of some of the positions and accomplishments that I have had the opportunity to be a part of, and I still have the passion to want to help others to have the quality of care they deserve.
