Pharmaceutical research scientist with more than 30 years of experience in the fields of atherosclerosis, diabetes, osteoporosis, pulmonary disease, and oncology • Major responsibilities and efforts have been directed toward the design, management and execution of both acute and chronic studies in small animal models to support drug discovery. • 25+ years of experience with histology and image analysis techniques including preparation of animal tissues (micro-dissection, tissue processing, cryosectioning, paraffin sectioning, specialized staining), immunohistochemistry, light microscopy and image analysis quantification • 20+ years of experience with small animal microvascular surgery (murine aortic transplant, ovariectomy, catheterization) • Served as a medical writer for a successful filing of a Phase I clinical trial application with the FDA for an oncology drug; actively participated in the writing of 3 additional FDA-accepted IND applications • Former member of a small biology team responsible for the successful completion of Phase 1 human clinical trials with the FDA and subsequent movement toward Phase 2 Directly involved with the writing and editing of regulatory documents including Animal Use Protocols, SOPs for Laboratory Safety, Chemical Hygiene and Radiochemical Use, and the formal experimental reports/ documentation required for FDA clinical trial filings • Provided administrative and technical support with accounts payable, procurement, safety training, book keeping, compound management, domestic and international shipping, and any other administrative tasks necessary to manage a fast paced laboratory • Hard working, extremely organized, diligent, and detail-oriented with the ability to supervise and independently coordinate several tasks concurrently • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, QuickBooks, Graph Pad, ImagePro analysis software
