Background
About Patricia Secrest
My time at New College gave me the foundation for the rest of my life. Because, in the end, I was responsible for my own education, I was able to explore some vastly different areas of chemistry. My Ph.D. is in organometallic synthesis and photochemistry. This lead to my time at Ferro as part of the Global Color R&D. While at Ferro I worked with a great team of technical people in the US and Spain to develop a unique product, inkjet decoration of ceramic tile, which is still in use today. From Ferro I moved to Dover Chemical Corporation, where I have been working again with a great group of technical people on some very interesting projects.Over the past few years, laboratory safety has become an important concern of mine. The incident at UCLA, while very tragic and sad, has given the issue of laboratory safety the higher profile it should have.
