Background

About Patrick Ashman

I’m a compassionate and creative spirit who values integrity, hard work, and putting people before things. I recently graduated from Cal Poly with a BA in English literature, a minor in Spanish, and a technical and professional communication certificate. My undergraduate studies, however, gave me much more than these credentials. They provided me with invaluable experiences such as. 🤝 Helping 70 students cultivate a richer college experience as a resident advisor for 3 years. Collaborating with 8 other editors to revive Cal Poly’s yearly literary-art journal for my senior project. Project managing a collaborative effort to edit literary manuscripts written by incarcerated authors. Seizing opportunities to perform “off-the-top” (improvised) freestyle raps on and off campus. From August 2024 to July 2025, I'm undertaking a year of service with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) as an academic support specialist at Donnelly College in Kansas City, KS. In this role, I'm facilitating tutoring and career services to support student success while living out JVC’s values of simple living, spirituality, community, and social justice. I’m a people person at heart with a passion for building meaningful relationships, so hit me up if you’d like to connect! I'm always down to talk.
