About Patrick Boutet

At first, I thought I was an industrial designer, then a project manager. When I became VP Operation and General Manager, I thought I should be a leader. I was partly right, but mostly wrong. What I am is a problem solver. Designing products is about identifying problems and seizing opportunities. Take your knowledge and life experience, as well as your colleagues, and lays these dots down, then trace lines between them. That is product design, it is connecting the dots to create the new and the better, to uncover hidden opportunities. When you do this for a while you get to realise, that this applies to any role you will ever have. Problems and opportunities have the same nature everywhere. Everything I learn as a designer I carried proudly to my VP operation and general manager role. In every turn there is an opportunity for improvement, for doing even better, to have more fun and satisfaction. Make things better, this is what I love to pursue, this is what I’m passionate about. Working as consultant for almost 25 years, I thought I was designing products. Again, I was partly right, but mostly wrong. What I am is a servant. Being a consultant, is being a servant at heart. It is caring about people and client successes. It is being conscious and respectful of the trust you are empowered with. This is carrying and defending somebody else vision as if it were yours. It’s humility of knowing is not about you. Again, when you do this for a while you get to realise, that this applies to any role you will ever have. What can I do for you? Ask this to your client, but also to your staff, colleagues, and partners. Their enjoyment, happiness and success are bond to yours. Each of them is a small project that need your attention and your care. Be at their services, they will deliver, and the business will succeed. I love to serve; this is what I’m passionate about.
