Background

About Patrick Byrne

Recent Master of Environment (with distinction) graduate with a wealth of real-world experience in a variety of countries, landscapes and sectors. Currently working as the Data and Innovation Manager for Victoria-based landscape-scale environmental restoration company Cassinia Environmental. My previous experience is centered around a Bachelors Degree of International Development (completed 2014). I subsequently volunteered and worked in remote Indonesia with several forest and animal conservation NGOs (SOCP, YEL & ICON), from 2015-16. More recently worked in youth development sector in remote central-Australian communities as Youth Engagement Officer before moving up to coordinate youth programs across several teams, communities and vast distances (2017-2019). Prior to completing my bachelors degree I was engaged in challenging manual work; operating heavy machinery and complex mechanical systems in extreme environments with Fall Creek Ski Lifts. I have also worked in Canada and Japan. Prior to this I completed a Diploma of Applied Photography. The imaging, video editing, and creative thought skills learnt in this diploma have proved useful throughout the rest of my career. I have unique experience in project & infrastructure management, operating in remote & culturally diverse environments, staff development, media & communications. I am fluent in Indonesian language, having completed enough tertiary units to hold a diploma of language (Indonesian).
