About Patrick C. Lalonde

Dr. Patrick Lalonde is a faculty member and currently serves as BA Program Coordinator in the Department of Criminology & Legal Studies at Douglas College in New Westminster and Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. He teaches courses in border security, policing, professionalism, interviewing skills, media, and criminology. Patrick also currently serves as a Provincial Board Member on the New Westminster Police Board and was recently elected Secretary (an officer of the society) of the BC Association of Police Boards. Patrick received a SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship for his dissertation research on simulation, technologization, digital subjectivity, and interactions at contemporary Canadian borders. His research interests focus on border security, surveillance, digital subjectivity, and simulation. Patrick has also worked as a university lecturer, teaching introductory and upper-level sociological theory, surveillance, migration, legal studies, and other courses. He also formerly worked as a college professor of sociology teaching courses in intro. sociology, crime, consumerism, and media. He has additional experience working in law enforcement, secure document preparation and handling, and research. He gained this experience working with Canada Border Services Agency, Passport Canada, University of Windsor, University of Waterloo, and Okanagan College, respectively. Patrick is published in major journals, including the British Journal of Criminology, Policing and Society, and the Journal of Experimental Criminology. He is open to available research, publishing, article peer review, book review, textbook editing, MA/PhD defence committee membership, board membership, and collaboration opportunities.
