About Patrick Carter

Patrick M. Carter is a shareholder of the firm Wolaver & Carter primarily practicing in the areas of government law, business law and land use law. Patrick is the city attorney for both Spring Hill and Fairview, Tennessee and is a Rule 31 Civil and Family Law Mediator. Patrick is an active leader in both the Maury County and Tennessee Bar Associations. Patrick graduated from the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law Class of 2005. From 2011-2017 he chaired the local annual fundraising campaign for the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands. Patrick served two terms as the President of the Maury County Bar Association from 2019-2021. He served on the TBA’s IOLTA grant review committee from 2020-2022. Patrick is a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation, an honor less than 4% of all Licensed attorneys in Tennessee can claim. He also serves as a Trustee for the Foundation. Patrick has served as a board member of the Maury County CASA organization (Chair), the Maury County Boys and Girls Club, the Willow Bend Nature Center, the Maury County United Way (President), the Columbia Soccer Association (President), the Maury County YMCA, the Maury County Wellness and Aquatic Center (Secretary and legal counsel), Arts In Action, Grow Columbia, Bright Apple, Inc. and the Peace and Justice Initiative as well as many other civic organizations. He particularly enjoys ringing the Salvation Army bell with his kids during the holiday season benefiting the Maury County Family Center. Patrick believes that perhaps the most important legal work he does is the estate planning services he provides to military veterans free of charge. Patrick’s father passed away from an Agent Orange related illness after being heavily exposed to Agent Orange while in Vietnam. One veteran at a time, Patrick tries to fill the gap and assist Veterans and their families. Patrick is married and has four children, 3 dogs and 2 cats. He loves to exercise and is a passionate traveler. National Parks and museums are frequent destinations. Recent travel includes Mexico City, Austria, Czech Republic and Portugal.
