Background

About Patrick Cunningham

A postgraduate researcher focusing on medicinal and organic chemistry for the discovery of novel therapeutic small molecules. Previous research projects as an undergraduate had the goal to synthesise a series of novel pyridopyrimidine ring systems, pyridopyrimidine rings have shown potential as kinase inhibitor scaffolds. As an MRes student within the Fuchter group at Imperial College London, I utilised in-silico drug design techniques to identify potent CDK7 inhibitors and synthesised 6 analogues related to the pyrazolo[1,5a]pyrimidine based compound, Samuraciclib, as a way to investigate new treatments towards aggressive subtypes of breast cancers. As a PhD candidate at the Ferrier Research Institute in the Harris group, I am proposing a number of new chemical entities as ways to treat various radical SAM containing diseases.
