About Patrick D. Reschke

I started in competitive gaming and esports in the 90s. With GXP, I organized some of Germany's legendary early LAN parties - thousands of players in giant halls, prize money tournaments at a time when nobody in this country was doing that. At the ESL, I led Intel's sponsorship activation and created the Intel Racing Tour - a nationwide racing simulation event in partnership with the BMW Sauber F1 Team, with a BMW M6 as the grand prize in the first season. These early years shaped everything that followed: the conviction that technology needs to reach people where they are, not the other way around. That was the beginning of a 30-year career in spatial computing, immersive technology, digital twins, and applied AI. I pioneered Second Screen concepts for German public television - including the first Tatort+ companion experience - and was part of the team behind the first tagesschau app. In 2010, I founded a digital marketing agency working with enterprise clients like Intel and Microsoft on interactive brand experiences and technology showcases. Today, I'm Managing Director and co-founder of Northdocks, a spatial computing company based in Germany. We maintain the digital twin of Cologne Cathedral and build industrial 3D visualization and digital twin solutions for enterprise clients like Henkel, Evonik, Currenta, Merck, and BASF. Our flagship products are Firefighter VR - 20+ regulation-compliant VR training modules on standalone hardware for fire services and public safety - and Meditrain VR, our medical VR training platform developed in close collaboration with the University Hospital of Cologne. On the research side, we're technology partner for peer-reviewed studies and our platforms are part of multiple ongoing doctoral research projects. As a full consortium partner in TEMA, an €11M Horizon Europe project alongside DLR, Fraunhofer HHI, and the Bavarian Red Cross, we build AI-driven digital twins for disaster management and civil security. Further EU and federal research projects include feir, Spot-KI, and flowAR. I serve on the Presidium of the DRZ (German Rescue Robotics Center) and hold active memberships in vfdb and WFVD. Our product carries the official patronage of the WFVD. After 10+ years in XR, my position is clear: distribution and adoption win, not technology alone. I reject digital silos and proprietary lock-in. I believe in open standards, open source, and interoperable platforms - because technology only scales when it's built to be shared, not hoarded.
