I head the Transaction Compliance team at Avantia Law, a NY and London-headquartered law firm combining technology and a team of specialists to provide market-leading outsourcing solutions for the world's leading asset managers. Our Transaction Compliance services include: ScreenFirst - a digestible AI-driven background report providing a scorecard and red flag review on potential counterparties and opportunities. Transaction KYC - helping asset managers comply with their regulatory AML obligations by conducting customer due diligence on transaction counterparties, investments and portfolio companies, JV partners and new opportunities. Includes transaction risk scoring, collecting and reviewing KYC materials, screening checks for sanctions, PEPs and financial crime, and a detailed memo setting out the risk analysis and process and signed by Avantia as a law firm. We also provide refresher KYC checks and ongoing monitoring of transactions and business relationships. Compliance DD - Transaction KYC on a target, plus due diligence review (including review of Legal and Financial DD reports), AML policy review and management Q&A. Reverse KYC - managing our clients' inbound KYC requests, helping them save time and resources by taking on the administrative burden of providing KYC information to third parties. In my spare time I read, write and hold lectures on philosophical topics with a focus on democratic theory, epistemology of democracy and the effects of social media on our collective ability to gather and share reliable information. Otherwise it's mainly just cats and food.
