Dr. Patrick Davis is a higher education leader and research administrator serving as Director of Research at Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. In this role, he oversees a growing research enterprise, guiding faculty and student investigators in advancing innovative biomedical, clinical, and educational studies. With a PhD in Bioenergetics and Exercise Science and postdoctoral training at the East Carolina University Obesity and Diabetes Institute, Dr. Davis brings deep expertise in skeletal muscle energetics, glucose metabolism, and human performance. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and contributes to the field as a section editor for the International Journal of Exercise Science. Beyond his research background, Dr. Davis is recognized for his strategic leadership in academic medicine, building infrastructure to support grant development, compliance, and scholarly productivity. He works closely with faculty, trainees, and external partners to expand funding opportunities, strengthen collaborative networks, and mentor the next generation of physician-scientists.
