About Patrick Eckerd

I am a recently sworn-in attorney in the State of North Carolina and currently reside in Asheville. Most recently, I worked on contract as a legal researcher conducting analysis of state law surrounding financial transactions and products in collaboration with attorneys from Moore & Van Allen, PLLC in Charlotte. I applied my legal analysis and writing abilities to produce clear and accurate reports and memos for the firm's attorneys and clients. I earned my JD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2021. While at Pitt Law I worked as a legal intern at LegalSifter, Inc, a start-up that provides AI-powered contract review software, and helped to develop and test the product's features and functionality. This involved close analysis of contractual language and structure in order to quality-check the output of LegalSifter's algorithms. I also completed 120 hours of experiential work aiding in criminal expungement in collaboration with Neighborhood Legal Services, a non-profit organization in Pittsburgh that offers free legal assistance to low-income individuals.
