About Patrick Ellison

As a software engineer, solution architect, stakeholder communicator, and mentor with experience in growing teams and delivering products, I've been able to wear many hats in my career - always focused on the intertwine of business and technology. Most recently, I am the tech lead for the "Flex" team at Magenta Technologies, where I've been leading the engineering efforts behind our phone and reporting systems built with AWS, Go, Twilio, Python, and MySQL. I have experience in both traditional and serverless architectures, and I love writing, testing and deploying code, designing and discussing new systems, and exploring the software industry. I am primarily a backend engineer, with some frontend experience, whose most recent endeavors include writing in Go, C#, and Node.js, among other languages, frameworks, and technologies. I have a degree in Computer Science and Business (B.S.) from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, where I also worked part-time as an junior engineer for the electronic health record company, Exscribe Inc. During my time at Lehigh, I used my experience working for Exscribe to explore the fundamental connection between technology and business I was taught in university, and I learned the fundamentals of running a small business while also continuously delivering code. After university, I worked for Red Ventures for a number of years, first under their Healthcare vertical, then under the HVAC vertical. Here, I worked on a small team overseeing the backend systems responsible for supporting both our partner websites and our own, which included lead delivery operations, site reliability engineering, and solution engineering in AWS. This was my first serious exposure to working on the cloud, and I am extremely grateful for everything I learned. Eventually, we grew our vertical and team into a joint venture with Trane Technologies, Magenta Technologies, where I took a new position and remain today. I hope to use my experiences to gain new opportunities and insights into the intertwined world of technology and business. I have a deep passion for both disciplines, and I look forward to using my knowledge and experiences to improving the world's technological landscape.
