My career as a litigator is spent in the defense of Corporations, Partnerships and Individuals sued in civil actions alleging negligence arising out of Product, Premises, Construction, Toxic and General Negligence theories. With dozens of active files on my desk, active participation in and management of the litigation and the personnel working with me has been essential to my success. The work has entailed all activity, from pre-suit fact investigation through pleadings, written and oral fact and expert discovery, dispositive motions and resolution at trial. While a not liable finding by a jury following trial is always the ultimate goal, experience and economics dictate the need to be aware of and consider claim resolution throughout the process, whether by mediation, settlement conference or personnel conference with opposing counsel. I favor an aggressive, but congenial approach throughout the proceedings. Using clear, concise communications and legal and factual analysis allows me to adapt and re-focus where need be in order to position my client in the best possible position for a favorable resolution. Representative of my experience is the defense of a major, international Petro-Chemical firm and an aerospace entity in product and premise liability claims arising out of alleged exposure to asbestos, benzene and chromium. The defense of manufacturers in a wide variety of suits alleging injury as a result of alleged defect in products, such as steelmaking furnaces, fast-food consumables, playground equipment and household goods. The defense of commercial and residential property owners in suits alleging damage as a result of equipment failure, elevator defects, toxic exposure, fire cause and origin, and slips, trips and falls on ice, snow and pavement defects. I defend Owners, General Contractors and Subcontractors in lawsuits alleging the failure to properly control the jobsite or to remedy unreasonably dangerous conditions on the jobsite. ht. I defend individuals and corporations in suits alleging injury and death resulting from motor vehicle accidents. I' defend Manufacturers, Wholesalers and Retailers in suits alleging food-borne illness. I have represented clergy in abuse matters.
