About Patrick Hargon
I'm a writer and education professional with a passion for helping students discover their strengths and find their own reasons for graduating from college. I am the Director of the Learning Commons and Writing Center at University of Nebraska Kearney, which offers tutoring and success coaching. I also oversee a variety of other retention services, including a First Year Seminar and staff who provide individualized support to students to ensure they are able to overcome obstacles and discover their own reasons for persisting to graduation. I teach an online course called "Teaching Writing K-12" that is a passion project of mine; I developed the course and in the process have learned so much more than I ever knew before about ways to help students grow as writers. I'm interested in connecting with other professionals who are determined to learn how to help students carve out their own spaces in the education system.
