About Patrick Higgins

I have over seven years of experience as a freelance writer, editor, and podcaster. My skillset emphasizes qualitative analysis, media development and management, and creative writing. Nothing inspires me more than working on projects which aim to connect to real-world issues. Whether interning with game developers or editing academic journals, I find no excuse to exclude creative thinking from the production of high quality work. Experience has taught me to work as part of a team even when operating remotely—skills I developed through undergrad research positions and internships even before 2020 popularized remote work. I am passionate about utilizing my creative work to critically discuss social issues. Since high school, I've been involved in human rights campaigns and environmental education. After leaving undergrad I began my own podcast discussing social theory from the publisher Verso Books and have subsequently had the privilege of interviewing academics, authors, and activists such as Hartmut Rosa, Patricia Gherovici, and Loren Goldner. I hope to continue engaging with new voices about issues of equality and autonomy in the world today regardless of where my career may take me. I am passionate about maintaining my own projects including podcasting and staying involved in voluntary work with journals like New Sociological Perspectives.
