About Patrick J. Stapleton

Everything I do stems from two core values: provide excellent care for the vulnerable and be an engaged member of the local community. They combined when I discovered my passion for healthcare as a college student working in admissions at a local hospital. I've never left the field or the Boston area. Sherrill House, my life's work, was a great neighborhood institution when I arrived. We provide excellent care of fragile, vulnerable adults. They can't get care anywhere else, and it feels so good giving people the high quality care they need and deserve. I've had the joy and privilege to be an entrepreneurial leader at the helm for two decades. Thanks to the generous support of institutions and donors, we've added a thriving short term rehabilitation service, a hospice, and greatly expanded capacity. Our team values the work/life balance we offer and the freedom I provide to make independent decisions that drive the organization. Looking ahead, I want to position Sherrill House for the next 100 years, ensuring that the leadership, staff, and facilities are ready to adapt to all changes. Outside of my work at Sherrill House, I am honored to serve as chair of the Board of Registration of Nursing Home Administrators. I’m humbled by the confidence my peers have shown by electing me to lead us through what are certainly very challenging times. It’s an outstanding group of professionals who are deeply committed to providing oversight and setting standards that ensure the patients and residents served by skilled nursing facilities in Massachusetts receive the highest quality of care. When I'm not working, I spend as much time as I can with my family and on the course at Wollaston Golf Club. Or I'm walking through Sherrill House talking with patients, residents, staff, and their families. They're all family to me.
