Background
About Patrick Kaczmarek
I am currently a student at Carnegie Mellon University, interested primarily in the interface of physics and mechanical engineering. My current research is in automating the process of graphene flake detection as a part of Professor Sufei Shi's group. This has exposed me to techniques in solid state physics as well as mechanical systems development both hardware and software side.Beyond my research, I am also the Mechanical Team Lead for Carnegie Mellon Rocket Command (CMRC), which competes in the NASA University Student Launch Initiative (USLI). In my role, I lead my subteam to complete NASA-assigned design review deliverables, as well as design and build the high-powered rocket which is the subject for said deliverables.Additionally, I am involved on campus as a Undergraduate Student Senator for the Mellon College of Science, where I represent and advocate for students in university-level decision and policy making. I sit on the Academic Affairs and Business Affairs committees.
