About Patrick Koneval

I am a life-long educator, with over 30 years of teaching, coaching, executive board member, membership chair, bargaining team member, and union communications director experience. I am incredibly driven with a great work ethic that comes from the desire to do the best work I can. I am also a creative thinker and problem solver. I see opportunities others may not see. I believe any position is more than knowing facts and figures. It is about developing relationships. Success is not only defined by a financial standpoint, but also how employees feel about their employer. I have never been one to back down to a challenge and I look forward to making an impact wherever I am working. I was one of the first in the state to create many educational initiatives. In I thought the best way to communicate with parents was to put my students’ assignments and grades online, so I piloted a program called Edline. The following year, my school was the second in the state to use an online LMS portal. The people at Edline were so impressed with how I was using their program in my classes, they offered me a job. They thought it would be better if a teacher who used the software conducted the trainings instead of someone who just worked there. I was one of the first districts in the state to create a union website. I also contacted the state union about finding a more effective and efficient way to have people join the union. Instead of using the old-fashioned way of filling out a paper application, and waiting for copies to be sent to our office, the state office, and the district office, I did something else. I was the first and only district in the state to use Adobe Sign, so when a teacher joins the union, the MEA, TEA, NEA, and any other person that needs a copy, gets it immediately. I am managing more than one project at any given time. I like to be challenged both personally and professionally. I believe we were put on this earth to serve others. I have done this my whole life. We must strive to improve ourselves and seek personal and professional growth. We achieve this with change! Change is uncomfortable, but it is necessary for each of us be more than we thought we ever could. I feel as though I am ready for another stage in my career. I am ready for change and new challenges. I would also like to continue to grow and learn and take on new tasks—ones I have not had the opportunity to tackle in my current role.
