About Patrick Leclerc

I've worked at two Home Hardware stores over the past 7 years learning numerous skills. I started as a stock boy at Stoney's Home Hardware in Port Dover when I was 14. I worked there up until my first year of university. At Stoney's, I learned to effectively merchandise product as well as hone my communication and sales skills. I also learned how to sharpen knives, scissors and skates at this location. Furthermore, I learned how to cut and replace glass in windows as well as re-screening windows and doors. In my second year of university, I was lucky to be hired at Weeks Home Hardware in Dundas. Here, I further honed the skills learned from Stoney's as well as picking up new ones. At Weeks, I was trained as a cashier, learned how to place and receive orders, how to mix paints and how to cut keys. I was consistently around professionals who taught me a number of practical homeowner skills. These skills allowed me to help solve numerous household issues for customers. I understand basic plumbing, as I spent most of my time within that section. I learned a lot about paint, both how it works and the various applications of it. Aside from work, I have obtained several skills from my experience at McMaster University as a History major. As a research intensive school, I have spent most of my career at McMaster doing research for papers. In doing this, I have developed refined research skills as well as becoming efficient at analyzing documents and sources for useful material. I have also been a part of several debates within courses at Mac. The debates in question sharpened my reasoning skills and allowed me to gain numerous new perspectives. At McMaster, I was a part of the McMaster Undergraduate History Society as the primary events coordinator. I would communicate with various venues to host events. Our main event was trivia, an event that each member of the society took turns writing for and hosting. Another one of my responsibilities was to photograph the events. I have been a hobby photographer for quite some time and was glad to be able to use it for the society. McMaster was a fantastic experience that taught me innumerable skills that I feel can prove useful to many employers. Overall, I am a quick and eager learner with a set of skills best used for communication and service.
