Background
About Patrick Lovins
Hello everyone! A bit about me: I am a D&D lover looking to start my first campaign as a DM soon. I am highly interested in and passionate about technology, taking apart my first VCR when I was 11 and building my first computer when I was 13. I firmly believe that we should always strive to learn something new and constantly push our boundaries; this goes for us as individuals and for us as the human race. A bit of my background: I started at Mars as the Bulk Unloader, collecting samples from incoming ingredient shipments on trucks and rail cars. Once ingredient samples passed quality inspections, I would move the truck into the bay and begin unloading the ingredient into the appropriate bin. My manager seeing how interested I was regarding the quality lab, allowed me to cross-train for the QA role, for which I was later promoted. After moving on from Mars, I began working at Dish Network as a level 1 field service specialist installing and repairing home satellite tv systems. Due to my previous experience with technology and customer service, I advanced quickly, maxing out as a level 4 specialist within one year. Within the same year, I completed the training and certification testing for every certification Dish had to offer. I began training new technicians one-on-one for several weeks at a time. Over the eight years of working with Dish, I trained more than 30 new technicians. Dish also saw fit for future leadership roles and sent me to the corporate office for formal management preparation courses. Sadly my position was affected by the Covid 19 pandemic, and I parted ways with Dish. After leaving Dish, I was in a small town with no job prospects. I remember searching on Indeed one day for any job within 20 miles of elk city. It found three results, all of which were in the specialist medical field; I was nowhere near qualified. And so, with no career prospects, my family decided it was time to move on. We spent some time selling our house, packed up, and moved to Moore, OK. In Moore, I began working for Assurant. Sadly my time there was relatively short as the company decided not to continue the in-store repair program, laying off the entire technician workforce. After separating from Assurant, with no mortgage to worry about and a bit of free time, my wife and I decided to fulfill a long-term dream of ours and move to Long Beach, CA. In my off time, I decided it was time to move forward with my technological skill set and worked to get my CompTIA A+ certification. I continue to work towards my Network+ certification at this very moment.
