About Patrick Maguire

I solve problems and build things. Preferably through writing code, and preferably with an awesome, driven team dedicated to making the world a better place. I've built hospitals, battled disease outbreaks, taught physics, and designed and installed solar PV systems. Since moving into tech, I’ve architected, written, tested, released, debugged, and project managed software, and I’ve directed the quality assurance and release team for a 100+ member software organization. Currently, I’m the lead software developer at a renewable energy startup, where I’m architecting and building our APIs and infrastructure. Previously, I've promoted DevOps principles through writing automation and tooling, designing and implementing build & release processes, and fueling collaboration between ops, QA, and developers through a focus on close-knit teams, ownership, and common tooling. I know Jenkins and continuous integration/delivery concepts inside and out, I'm skilled in Python, Docker, PostgreSQL, Linux administration and AWS, have experience with MySQL, JavaScript/CSS/HTML, shell scripting, and PHP, and worked a bit with Java, Scala, and SalesForce Apex. I’m self-taught, and I love to learn.
