Background

About Patrick Mannle

I serve as the academic advisor for Pre-Athletic Training, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Physician Assistant, and K-12 Licensure students in the Exercise Science department, which is housed within the College of Education at Tennessee Tech University. Currently I carry a load of approximately two hundred and forty students, with whom I meet at least once per semester. I have developed and assisted in developing multiple tools for tracking students success and satisfaction, as well as tracking student data to assist in possible future retention program development. In addition to my advisor duties, I teach up to five hours Foundations of Education courses per semester. The courses are: Freshman Orientation/Introduction to Field Experience, Introduction to Field Experience and Introduction to Teaching and Technology. These courses contain a vast array of material, including but not limited to, lesson plan design, Problem Based Learning research and presentation, and website creation. My job gives me the opportunity to work closely with, and develop relationships with students from diverse populations and backgrounds. I thoroughly enjoy the time that I get to spend with them, and helping them on the road to achieving their goals. I possess a Master's of Arts degree in Educational Psychology and Counseling. I spent the majority of my program studying and administering psychological assessments to determine cognitive, developmental, and interpersonal levels of functioning. During my graduate student career, I served as a graduate clinician at the university counseling center where I performed clinical intakes and made differential diagnoses using DSM-IV criteria, as well as providing psychotherapy employing multiple modalities. Individual as well as group counseling also fell within my scope of responsibilities.
