About Patrick Mashanda

I have been actively involved in empowering communities and transforming lives in South Africa & Zimbabwe for over a decade. My experience evolves around sustainable access to education for orphans and vulnerable children, and skills development for the youth. I have showcased exceptional leadership skills by initiating new programmes, overseeing operations, establishing partnerships, and managing finances and assets. I have been with IkamvaYouth since 2012, I have served as the National Programmes Manager since 2016, and I have ensured establishment of new projects as the organisation scales operations, as well as quality results for learners. I take the lead in risk management and troubleshooting challenges for operations & pilot projects. Additionally, I manage programme budgets, and forge strategic relationships with stakeholders, ensuring donor compliance and the overall successes of the organization. I have successfully fundraised for projects, and have managed multi-year funding partnerships with local and international corporates. I have spearheaded the programme delivery response to the COVID-19 pandemic, adapting to the use of technology and embracing Education in Emergencies principles. I was able to initiate new programmes during the pandemic, thereby ensuring no significant access to learning for hundreds of learners during the pandemic emergency. Ensuring teams worked safely during the pandemic indicated great leadership skills, coupled with care for programme teams. My ability to make a meaningful impact is bolstered by my educational background. I hold various qualifications, including a UNICEF Education In Emergencies Global Programme Certificate, a Diploma in Biblical Studies & Christian Leadership, a University of Cape Town Certificate in Business Risk Management, and a B.A Honours in History & Development Studies Degree. These qualifications provide me with a well-rounded knowledge base and a comprehensive understanding of program development, risk management, and the socio-cultural factors shaping communities. I have presented at Conferences, as well as in the media, putting to use public speaking and presentation/facilitation skills I have acquired over the years With my diverse skill set, exceptional leadership abilities, and unwavering passion, I continue to empower communities, and pave the way for a brighter future for many.
