I've always thought being a medical doctor would be a wonderful career. The ability to make such a difference in the lives of others has to be terribly gratifying. To know your brought a patient from sickness to health. To know your diagnosis and treatment plan saved a life. To give a patient the assurance that everything is going to be fine. Nothing gets much better than that. As much as I would have liked being a doctor, there's just no way I could do it. I can't even handle the sight of blood. So when it came time in 2009 to figure out what I wanted to do with the second half of my life, I promised myself I would find a career where I could make a difference in the lives of others. Where I could develop relationships with people and really get to know them. And most importantly, help them in a meaningful way. Where I could see firsthand the results of my work and the smile on their faces. After months and months of unsuccessfully searching for the right opportunity back in 2009, Edward Jones found me. They were hiring at a time no other company was hiring. It was the Great Recession. The job was for a financial advisor. I knew nothing about investments. They said not to worry. We'll teach you everything you need to know.learning about investments is the easy part. What we're looking for, you can't teach. We're looking for people who want to always do what's in the best interest of our clients. That's all I needed to hear. And in 2009 I joined Edward Jones, moved my family back to Franklin, TN and opened my practice. My wife and I met in college and have been married for 31 years. We have two adult children who both live and work in Nashville. Our daughter went to Clemson University and our son went to the University of Tennessee. So there's lots of orange in our home!
