About Patrick Mellado
My dream was to work in the Aerospace industry. As an engineer, I started out working in satellites, but I’ve always been fascinated by planes. When the development of the A380 started, I joined Airbus. That was 18 years ago. Throughout my career at the company, I’ve worked on the design and engineering of virtually all the structural aspects that concern the A380. Today my aim is to transfer that acquired knowledge to the team I lead (between 10 and 30 engineers and technicians), whose focus is the two Airbus flagships, the A380 and A400M. I'm responsible for the structural justification and the certification of the structural strenght for the Nose and Centre Fuselage (A380 and A400M programs). My guiding principle is to see how we can do better tomorrow than we did today, professionally and personally. To paraphrase Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, ‘The greatness of a profession is uniting human beings.’
