Director, USDA-ARS Delta Region Areawide Aquatic Weed Project (USDA-ARS DRAAWP), 2014-2018, on Integrated, Adaptive Management of Aquatic Weeds in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Professional Goal: Develop ecologically and economically sustainable biological control solutions for non-native, invasive aquatic and terrestrial weeds using insects as biological control agents. Professional Qualifications: Disciplinary Knowledge: Entomology, ecology, weed management science, plant sciences. Technical Skills: Plant, insect and microbial rearing; plant and insect identification; weed and pest insect control; statistics. Administrative Skills: Scientific project planning; grant-writing; supervision/mentoring; preparation, review and administration of extramural proposals and grants; publication in technical journals (47 published, 2001-present); editing of manuscripts for journals; preparation of reports; delivery of technical and non-technical presentations (over 70 since 2001). Demonstrated Abilities: Plan five-year timelines of research acceptable to peer reviewers. Develop budgets ($1M-2M/yr) and administer grants in compliance with sponsoring organization’s and Federal requirements.
