About Patrick Moricette

I am an adjunct instructor and a Ph.D. candidate majoring in International Crime and Justice (ICJ) at Florida International University. I hold a master's degree in criminology and criminal justice and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Florida Atlantic University. My research interests center broadly on the extra-legal factors that shape courtroom outcomes, with a particular focus on racial disparity in prosecutorial and judicial decision-making. I am also interested in exploring the impact of predatory marriage on undocumented immigrants in the United States. While my academic studies hinge primarily on quantitative research, I have a proven track record of excellent teaching. Between 2016 and 2018, I worked as a graduate teaching assistant at Florida Atlantic University under the guidance of Dr. Sameer Hinduja, a professor and leading expert in cyberbullying. During that time, I learned the basic techniques and fundamentals of teaching and the art of meeting students where they at. From 2018 to 2019, I worked as an instructor at the Florida Department of Corrections, where I helped develop a reentry program for women. From 2020 till now, I have been working as a graduate teaching assistant at Florida International University. I have taught and continue to teach various criminology and criminal justice courses, including Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminological Theory, and Human Trafficking.
