About Patrick Ohara

I am retired now. English is still the number one language in the world. For people to have a better opportunity in finding employment they need to show they have a good level of English, that they can communicate. I have had many years experience in helping students pass Cambridge exams and preparing Business students feel comfortable chairing meeting and presentations. Along with many teachers, with the world changing I have also adopted, now I have experience in teaching virtual classes, it is another challenge and I feel I have adapted my skills well. I am used to teaching groups and one to one. At Learnlight we use the Blended System, I like it, I wouldn't say it is better but it is different and students seem to like it and they are able to improve their skills and that is important. With this system students work on grammar, reading, listening and writing skills at home and in the class we work hard on their oral skills and try to solve any doubts about the work they have done at home. Experience as coordinator • Teacher support: weekly get-togethers with individual teachers, proposing alternative approaches towards classes; solving problems with difficult students; aiming to ensure that teachers are employing a suitable methodological approach. • Classroom observations: assessing teacher in-class performance and suggesting ways of improving; tracking subsequent progress. • Interviews with prospective teachers. • My duties included conducting interviews and placement tests. • Talking to parents • For eight years in July I have taken groups of children to Fettes College in Edinburgh. My duties included travelling and staying with the students and working with Fettes College in making sure that things ran smoothly and maintaining contact with parents. I stayed with the students for three weeks. • I worked at the English Summer Camp at Cerler for five years. • Proctor for ES International School for SAT exams • I work with Microsoft Office
