About Patrick Okori

Patrick Okori is a Ugandan national. He holds a PhD, MSc Crop Science and BSc in Agriculture from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Makerere University respectively. Patrick is currently a Principal Scientist with ICRISAT based in Lilongwe Malawi, where he is the Country Representative and groundnut breeder. He was the R&D Product Line leader the CGIAR Research Programmes on Grain Legume and a member of ICRISAT’s Research Management Committee and the First Flagship leader for the CRP on Grain Legumes and Dryland Cereals In his formative days, Patrick was Dean of the School of Agricultural Sciences at Makerere University in Uganda. He has been engaged in various national to global agricultuyral research and policy initiatives. he is an accomplished scientist and leader. below are some key areas of his contributions: 1. Impactful science: Research teams I lead have generated and deployed agricultural science solutions for harmonious economic development, to sustain agro-ecologies and secure current and future posterity development imperatives, especially in emerging economies. Thought leadership: I have vast experience harnessing science knowledge to inform the design and management of agriculture investments for initiating, leveraging and forestalling emerging and forecast development opportunities and challenges, especially in developing economies. Management: Experience in managing academics, researchers and multi-stakeholder partnerships. Am a Feed the Future CAADP champion and with experience in organizational change management, strategic and foresight planning. Finance and partnerships: Vast experience in resourcing for organization missions by positively influencing development partners and government investment agencies to fund agenda under my stewardship.
