Patrick Rivers is an ethnomusicologist and Associate Professor of music at the University of New Haven. He researches and teaches the processes of recorded music and the impact of technology on music aesthetics and consumption. Patrick has published articles and chapters on hip-hop and R&B music in American Music Review, the St. James Encyclopedia of Hip Hop Culture, the Oxford Handbook of Hip Hop Music Studies, 33 1/3: The B-Sides, and Cambridge's Themes in American Literature and Culture volume. He is the co-author of the 33 1/3 series book Uptown Saturday Night.
