Risk and resilience specialist with over 15 years of practical delivery across sectors including finance, energy, healthcare, higher education, and government. I’ve worked with organisations such as a global Tier 1 bank, Heathrow Airport, Hotel Chocolat, the NHS, and leading universities — helping them prepare for disruption, recover quickly, and treat risk as part of how they make decisions, not just a compliance issue. Currently Principal Consultant at Verisk Maplecroft, leading a global resilience programme with delivery teams across the UK, US, France, and India. Before that, I ran my own consultancy for 14 years, working everywhere from high-growth retail to flood-prone infrastructure in West Africa, with clients who had very different budgets but often similar blind spots. I’ve delivered work that’s reduced errors by 66%, halved delivery cycles, secured funding uplifts, and helped clients avoid expensive mistakes. My academic background includes a PhD in risk management, an MBA from IMD Lausanne, and a First-Class degree from Cambridge. Earlier in my career, I served as a commissioned officer in the British Army; an experience that gave me a low tolerance for faff and a high appreciation for clarity when things go wrong. Outside of work, I chair a Scout district and previously served as Interim Chair of British Weightlifting during a particularly “lively” period. I live in the High Peak, where the views are excellent and the broadband occasionally reminds me why paper-based contingency plans still matter.
