About Patrick Schimmel

Currently Studying Fecal Microbiota Transplants, its effects and fundamental workings in the human gut at the Medical University of Graz. This is part of my second postdoc in which I hope to grow into a Principal Investigator through the Cluster of Excellence "Microbiomes drive Planetary Health". First off all, if you have any burning questions or just want a chat, don't be afraid to send me a message on patrickschimmel@live.nl I have acquired my doctorate at the Wageningen University at the Laboratory of Microbiology and have been a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Illinois (Cann Lab, USA). These periods included a stay at the University of Southampton in the lab of Jon Swann. Before all that, I was on an internship period at UNIS, Svalbard, researching microalgae in the high arctic. As a part of the FAABulous project: http://mare-incognitum.no/index.php/faabulous-the-team I have laboratory (both through study and part-time jobs), analytical, presentation, genomics and field-work experience in the field of Biology. Furthermore, I am skilled in project and team work, data analysis and scientific writing on a academic level. I consider myself a good communicator and I work well with others. In my free time I was an active music-blogger was writing and coordinating for 3voor12gelderland. I am currently exploring my talents in creative writing, since I'm in the process of a potential first novel. Moreover, I am a sports fanatic, both practicing sports myself and as a follower. I have been involved in part-time jobs as a writer, editor, marketeer, and as a member of a communities concerning, music or sports-culture.
