About Patrick Schneider

After my successful graduation in Japanese Studies (M.A.) and living in Japan for many years, I am now back in Germany. I am looking for a new opportunity in which I can prove my specialized skills and knowledge. Studying at well-known universities in Japan as well as having different working experiences enabled me to fluently command spoken and written Japanese, to acquire profound knowledge of “country and the people” and expertise in intercultural communication skills. I was living in Ōsaka, Kyōto and in Tōkyō where I was employed as a Coordinator of International Relations at the Sports Division/Promotion of Olympic and Paralympic Games 2020 Civic Center of Bunkyō-ku until the end of September 2019. My main duties involved contact maintenance with the DOSB (German Olympic Sports Federation), DBS (German Handicapped Sports Association) and other German institutions. In conjunction with my main responsibilities, I also engaged in interpretation tasks for the mayor of Bunkyō-ku (meetings, speeches in embassies etc.) and for carrying out intercultural exchanges with German Olympians and Paralympians to Bunkyō-ku One of the projects I supervised was the conception and implementation of trilingual magazine (Japanese, English and German) in which all 33 Olympic and 22 Paralympic disciplines were introduced. As a result, in addition to science and research, I was able to deepen and expand my Japanese language skills and cultural skills in connection with the area of sports. Beside Japanese I also have fluent command of English, Italian and basic communication skills in Spanish and Arab.
