Dr. Patrick Shiel is an Adjunct Professor in Civil & Environmental Engineering at both Stanford University in California and Trinity College Dublin. In both roles, his domain expertise in demand and supply side energy systems is utilised in leading research on building energy optimisation and data analytics of supply/demand side energy. He is widely published in his chosen areas and holds multiple US patents in the area of thermal performance and the application of AI techniques for auto-optimisation of air quality and energy efficiency in buildings. With a 2018 re-appointment, Patrick continues as Chief Advisor to the UNDP in Bahrain on Government policy dealing with sustainable green building regulations. He is a past winner of the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year award scheme and a recipient of the DHL Export award.
