About Patrick Sotto

Currently an Applied Epidemiology Fellow under the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists. I am assigned to Guam and trained under the Territorial Epidemiologist to (1) examine available data on multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO) affecting the island, and (2) develop evidenced-based protocols and programmatic strategies to address the problem, including a Cluster/Outbreak Response Plan, based on the results. I previously worked as a Research Associate at the University of Guam Cancer Research Center, then moved to program development, implementation, and management for several infectious diseases at the Guam Department of Public Health and Social Services under the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity program. My goal is to seek opportunities that allow me to gain the critical skills to analyze emerging evidence while bridging decision makers with public health practitioners and the public to operationalize responses based on evidence-based practices. My interests are primarily in prevention and containment strategies for multi-drug resistant organisms in healthcare facilities, antimicrobial resistance, and in public health preparedness to emerging infectious diseases.
