I broke my leg to get into conservation and energy efficiency, no really! A concrete construction accident launched my career in energy efficiency and conservation and I’ve never looked back! Over the years, I've enjoyed collaborating in the innovative design, implementation, and administration of small to large-scale electric utility conservation programs in both the residential and business sectors as part of the Tacoma Power Initiative 937 compliance team. I am currently working in several Tacoma Power Business Conservation Programs, e.g, New Construction, Lighting Retrofit, Commercial Strategic Energy Management (CSEM), and Small Equipment Rebates. As a self-described “Conservation Generalist”, I have broad capabilities across several disciplines. I’ve launched several successful programs, engaged customers, and raised participation using numerous communication strategies, including traditional & current customer engagement tactics, earned media, social media, and field engagement strategies. I love to dig into customers’ energy problems and help solve them with utility demand-side products and services or provide them the knowledge to act on the issues they can control without specific technical knowledge. To accomplish this, I focus on customer issues and key results, leveraging industry and institutional knowledge and key relationships. Whether it’s a local Developer, General Contractor, or Trade Ally, it’s my job to be the energy management analyst for our customers. Persuasive and articulate, public speaking is my warm fuzzy blanket! I excel in presenting highly technical information to various audiences and groups of all sizes. I love to use storytelling techniques to tell relatable stories that impact the listener and motivate them to act. Over the years, I have developed a keen insight into human behavior and individual motivational influence. Regularly, draft Requests for Proposals and manage the process of awarding Professional Services Contracts to subcontractors and implementers delivering energy efficiency programs on behalf of Tacoma Power. Lately working to develop the next version of Commercial SEM & supporting CBPS HB 1257.
