About Patrick Wilkins

I am currently in my 19th year of education. I have spent 14 of these years as a Mathematics Teacher and 5 years as an Instructional Coach/Innovative Learning Coach. As a Mathematics teacher I help develop curriculum timelines, make decisions about prioritizing curriculum content, and choose best practices when deploying that content. As an Instructional coach I was responsible for helping teachers and students with Schoology, PowerSchool, IXL, and other EdTech programs. I also hosted professional development sessions that were geared towards using best practices when deploying technology in a blended learning classroom. In my role as instructional coach I was able to discover that I excel at helping people become more comfortable with technology in the classroom and increase their productivity using those available technologies. The downside of that role for me was having to learn copious amounts of edtech programs. Any time a teacher wanted to implement a new edtech product into their classroom, I would learn that product so I could help the teacher with implementation/troubleshooting. I feel that I am a quick learner when it comes to edtech but I could be much better at training others if I only had to concentrate on a handful of edtech programs instead of learning how to use every edtech product that a teacher may choose. I am proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google products. I have teaching/training experience in virtual and in-person settings. I have created a library of training videos for both students and teachers. I am interested in finding a career that allows me to train people on implementing edtech programs or best practices in education or any other field where employee training is needed. I think my skills as a teacher can translate into other areas besides the field of education.
