About Patrik Labic

Becoming a better human being requires effort and desire for change. My first step to improve myself was my first summer job abroad in the UK. That started my passion for learning and sharpening my skills. As years passed, I was glad to live and work in the UK, Austria, Italy and Czech Republic. First years I spent in the hospitality business, where I learned how to work 37 hours straight and be fresh and smiley for the guests, and much more, such as how to cook or prepare lovely cappuccino :). From the kitchen I jumped to MLM – Multi Level Marketing scheme in company WinnersGroup. I realized the fact that a professional salesman sells the solution, not the product. I managed to create a team of 10 independent salesmen. It means that I found them, lead them and mentored them. MLM teaches me how to maintain rejection from customers and how to manage team. After I finished my salesman career, I found my way to the IT world. This company is developing a hotel reservation and reception software. There I linked together my passion for hospitality and IT. It is not easy to simply describe the position in Start Up, it is better to say that I was Product owner/ Integration expert / Tester / Consultant. I had the responsibility of onboarding new clients. In the meeting I took information from hotel management. I set up the program environment for receptionists, management, connected sales channels such as Booking.com to the channel manager and prepared the program for launch. In some cases I did hospitality consultations, such as how to set up rooms, cancelation policies, how to improve sales etc. After COVID-19 spread across Europe, it caused a dramatic drop in travel. Hotels with 0 reservations did not need a reservation program and the business began to receive termination after termination. For a start-up at the beginning of the journey, it happened that the management of Siesta had to dismiss most of the workers. In those difficult times I was lucky to find an opportunity to test cars for Skoda auto in Entry Engineering company. I tested backend communication between the car and servers for autonomy drive development. Driving and testing cars was fun, but there was an opportunity to start working in the SCRUM framework, in an agile team at Fortuna, one of the largest betting companies in Central Europe. My most valuable experience here is learning the basics of an automated tester and being part of the transformation from SCRUM to the SAFE working framework.
