About Paul Ackerman
I grew up in Hopewell NJ before moving to Boulder Colorado to study Engineering Physics at the University of Colorado. Then I joined Ivan Smalyukh’s research lab where I discovered a passion for the physics of liquid crystals and earned my PhD in Electrical, Computer & Energy Engineering with a focus in Optics. I then studied soft living matter in the Brangwynne lab of Princeton NJ before setting off to join a startup based on my postdoc project. My current projects are aimed at understanding the physical phenomena that are abundant in soft living systems to support drug discovery. I am an avid runner and surfer.
