About Paul Amberg

As of January 3rd, 2023, I am the Library Director of the Stoxen Library at Dickinson State University (DSU) in Dickinson, North Dakota. Previously I was the Outreach Librarian at the Dickinson Area Public Library, where I was involved with creating and managing the library's new website, working with DSU to present the NEA Big Read to the community, creating a 130+-game board game collection for circulation on a $500 budget and working with Humanities ND on programming, as well as creating programming for adults such as Books & Brew, genealogy programs and Crime Club. While at the Minot Public Library previous to that, I oversaw the periodical collection which included surveying the collection, recommending cuts and new subscriptions, and managing payment for the subscriptions. I have a B.A. in History with concentrations in Native Studies and Political Science. I also have a B.S. in Management with a concentration in International Business. I was awarded my MLIS from the University of Southern Mississippi in May of 2022. I have worked in the library field for over 8 years at both public libraries and academic libraries. I presented on the use of DNA in genealogy at the North Dakota Library Association (NDLA) state conference in 2018. Previous to entering the library field, I managed for over 20 years in the grocery, restaurant, and IT fields. I have also recently been nominated by the director of the Ward County Library to run for the office of President-Elect of the NDLA.
