Background
About Paul B. Davis
Dr Paul Davis is an Audiologist specialising in Tinnitus. He has enjoyed more than two decades of clinical experience in private practice, hospitals, universities, and rural and remote settings. He also has had many years working with industry, particularly running clinical trials, strategic marketing, producing audiologist‑friendly user interfaces/help text, and various R&D functions. He has a long history of research and publishing in some of the most rigorous medical journals. At last count, he has had 951 citations of his publications. He has considerable experience teaching audiology theory and practice at an Associate Professor level in Australia, the USA, and the UK. He has been the Principal Investigator, Co‐PI, or Key Personnel on more than worth of research grants. He was awarded the Best Poster Award at the 2008 International Tinnitus Seminar in Sweden. It was the only award presented at the conference, which is the pre-eminent meeting in the field but held only every three years. He is a named inventor on more than 30 issued or pending patents. He is the Inventor of the Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment and Founder of the team that successfully brought it to market across Australasia and the Americas. He served on the Board of Directors for the first five years until the third round of VC fundraising restructured the board to demonstrate that the business was viable without the founder. Over those three rounds, he helped raise over $28 million in VC capital. He was the Chief Scientific Officer for six years, then later as a consultant. He was on the Adjunct Faculty at the University of Miami for five years, mentoring research and developing two promising new objective tinnitus measurement techniques. Currently, he is the Principal Consultant of Audiology Architecture, which he founded in 2012. Major clients have included Oticon HQ (Denmark), Neuromonics (USA), and Australian Hearing. He has also spent part of the last ten years in private practice and teaching online at Southern Cross University. Over that time, he has been increasingly undergoing further tinnitus research.
