About Paul Barker

Paul has nearly 30 years experience working in the IT security industry, working for both public and private sector organisations delivering advice and guidance on enterprise security. Paul has been an advocate for the adoption of industry and regulatory standards encompassing security best practices, and has extensive experience in the secure architecture design and deployment for telecommunications, petro-chem, healthcare, governments, police forces and financial institutions across the globe.At AtoS (CCS), Paul has also been deeply engaged in the architecture and implementation of Identity and Access Management solutions, which has included working with the government accreditor, ensuring the delivered solution has met the business requirements at both RESTRICTED and CONFIDENTIAL protective marking levels(old speak). A key goal in this project involved providing security guidance concerning the alignment of each organisations internal business requirements and challenges with the necessary government IA policies. Paul is capable of engaging effectively with stakeholders and business owners at all levels including CxO, and is a key source of knowledge and expertise in explaining both the technical architecture and business benefits of-Encryption-PKI-Vulnerability Management-SIEM-Patch Management-Mobile Device management, including BYOD/CYOD-Unified Communications-Authentication and Authorisation-Federated Identity-IDAM-Key Management-Crypto Management-Database Security-VirtualisationAs a security architect Paul is currently engaged in a number of security workstreams across government where he is working on the secure deployment of critical national infrastructure, which includes, Encryption, PKI, security architecture, web design and database security.Specialties: Good problem solver, good communicator, lateral thinker, a bit of a Maverick, however an all round nice guy.
