About Paul Bircham

Certified by the Institute of Directors, I have held Executive and Non-Executive positions on both public and private boards across a range of sectors. This has given me extensive experience of board governance including audit, risk, nominations and remuneration committees. I have played key roles during several mergers and acquisitions, presenting to investors and undergoing or conducting rigorous due diligence. As a school governor for 8 years, leading on finance, I used my skills and experience to benefit my local community. As a senior leader in utilities and infrastructure environments I have honed my capabilities in driving performance and business change. This includes working on 8 different price control processes across 3 different regulated sectors. Over 30 years I have earned a reputation in the energy industry for executing innovative strategies. My imagination and creative thinking set me apart from other senior leaders, helping me maintain a strategic perspective whilst delivering projects and securing business development opportunities. I combine empathy with insight in the development of people and businesses. My passion for environmental improvement and carbon reduction has helped me take a leading role in numerous industry fora. Working with national and local Government and with regulators I have set and realised a vision for sustainability and decarbonisation of the energy sector.
